Dummy and calculated dummy qualification

Dummy qualifications

Standard dummy qualifications calculate answers based on the respondent's answers to previous qualifications. Dummy qualifications, however, cannot have any conditions set other than those already programmed into the Lucid Marketplace. Some examples of standard dummy qualifications are:

  • STATE

  • REGION

  • DIVISION

  • DMA (US only)

The above qualifications calculate respondent answers automatically based on their answers to the ZIP or POSTAL CODE qualification. To target respondents within a particular geographic area, users can either upload the list of zips to the ZIP qualification or can use the conditions within the applicable geographic qualification.

For example, to target respondents within the Greater New Orleans area, users can either add the list of zip codes within New Orleans or users can use DMA and select the New Orleans condition. Do not use both. This is also available for countries outside of the US. To target respondents within the Greater London area, users can add the Standard Qualification for Postal Code GB (Great Britain), add the Standard Qualification for Region GB and select "Greater London" as the condition.

Please note that Region mappings will vary by country.

See international postal code targeting for more information.

IMPORTANT - If using any of the geographic targeting qualifications, the ZIP or Postal Code qualification must be included first because the answer to the geographic qualifications will be calculated based on the respondent's zip/postal code. Failure to add the ZIP qualification before the geographic qualification will result in all respondents terminating on the geographic qualification.

INTERNATIONAL POSTAL CODES - Many countries in Europe only allow for the collection and targeting of the first 3 digits of Postal Codes, as the full code is considered PII. For more information regarding PII click personally identifiable information (PII).

See the entry links section of the Cint Exchange Match implementation guide for more information about generating link entry URLs or email your Client Success Manager or our Support Team at support@cint.com.

ZIP+4 - While many partners have address information that can be used to determine a ZIP+4, most do not have the ability to target for it. Many Marketplace users will work with partners directly to provide the address information that can be used to determine the ZIP+4. If zip + 4 is required for the study, best practice is to notify the suppliers prior to launch.

Calculated dummy qualifications

Calculated dummy qualifications allow a user to create a new value and it as a variable based on answers to previous qualifications. In the example below, the Marketplace will assign the value "1980s" to all respondents who indicate their age as between 27 and 37. Values can be assigned on one or more qualifications. For example, the Marketplace can assign the variable "1980sFemale" to respondents who indicate their age as 27-37 and their gender as female.

The first step in adding a calculated dummy is to create the qualification. Create a calculated dummy qualification in the same way a normal qualification would be created (see custom qualifications), and set the qualification type to "Calculated Dummy." No answer options need to be created for this type of qualification. The functionality of the calculated dummy will be set up on the individual survey through qualification conditions.

Social Economic Level (SEL) profiling in the Cint Exchange

The Cint Exchange supports SEL profiling in the profiling library as a dummy qualification.

A dummy profile is not shown in the prescreener. Suppliers can pass this field in the survey.

Given its complexity and limited customer usage, the SEL profile value will not be calculated as it was previously done on Cobra.

Suppliers will have to calculate the SEL value on their side. Our support teams have reached out to suppliers and have communicated this to them. Our profile support team has explained to the Supply teams how the dummy SEL question should work, and they are working on getting suppliers to map to this question.

For more information on how to set up a SEL dummy qualification, please refer to the Profiling Guide.
