Mapping & Grouping

Prev Next

Mapping & Grouping allows you to organize, label, and structure your campaign IDs directly in the Lucid Measurement platform. Assign meaningful names to your IDs, consolidate placements into groups, and see those changes reflected automatically in your dashboard and reports — without needing to contact your Cint team.

See Mapping & Grouping FAQ for more information.

The Mapping & Grouping Page

The Mapping & Grouping page provides a centralized interface for managing all of your campaign IDs. From here you can rename IDs, create groups, and bulk edit via CSV.

ID Tabs

Interface showing site management options and ungrouped IDs for organization.

Your campaign IDs are organized across three tabs, depending on the channels enabled for your study:

  • Site Tab: Site IDs tracked in your campaign.

See the Page Actions section below for all options available within the Site tab.

  • Placement Tab: Placement IDs tracked in your campaign.

See the Page Actions section below for all options available within the Site tab.

  • Creative Tab: Creative IDs tracked in your campaign.

See the Page Actions section below for all options available within the Site tab.

Page Actions

Options to download, edit, or create new groups for site IDs displayed on screen.

Three actions are available at the top of the Mapping & Grouping page:

  • Download IDs: Opens a CSV file containing all current IDs, their assigned names, and their assigned groups. Use this as a template for bulk edits.

  • Bulk edit IDs: Upload a completed CSV to rename and re-group IDs in bulk.

  • Create new group: Opens a dialog to create a new group.

Naming Your IDs

Assigning names to your campaign IDs makes them easier to identify in your dashboard and reports. Names should reflect how you want to see your data, for example by placement, ad format, or geography.

Rename an ID

  1. Locate the ID you want to rename. Use the search bar to filter if needed.

  2. Click the pencil icon (✎) to the right of the ID, or click the ID to edit inline.List of ungrouped items with a highlighted link icon for editing options.

  3. Enter the new name in the text field.

  4. Press Enter or click outside the field to save.

Names are applied consistently across your dashboard and reporting.

Duplicate names are permitted at the ID level — you may intentionally use the same name across multiple placements.

Creating and Managing Groups

Groups allow you to consolidate multiple IDs under a single label. When IDs are grouped, the group name appears as a single line in the dashboard and reporting instead of showing each ID individually.

Create a New Group

  1. Click the Create new group button in the top rightInterface showing options to create a new group and manage site IDs.

  2. Enter a name for the group in the dialog that appears.

  3. Click Save group.

The new group will appear on the page. You can then assign IDs to it (see below).

Add IDs to a Group

Overview of campaign mapping with group IDs and placement options displayed.

You can add IDs to a group in two ways.

Using checkboxes:

  1. Check the box next to one or more IDs you want to move.

A contextual action bar appears at the bottom of the page.

  2. Select the target group from the group selector.

  3. Click Add to group to confirm.

Using drag and drop:

  1. Click and hold the drag handle (â ¿) to the left of an ID.

  2. Drag it into the desired group and release.

Rename or Delete a Group

To rename a group, click the three-dot menu (â‹®) to the right of the group name and select the appropriate option, or click the group name to edit inline.

To delete a group, click the three-dot menu (â‹®) and select Delete.

Deleting a group does not delete the IDs within it. IDs will be moved to the Ungrouped section.

Bulk Editing via CSV

If you have many IDs to rename or group at once, use the CSV bulk edit workflow instead of updating IDs one by one.

Download the Template

  1. Click Download IDs at the top of the Mapping & Grouping page.Interface showing options to download IDs and manage site IDs in a list.

  2. Open the downloaded CSV file in a spreadsheet application.

The file contains a row for each ID, with columns for the ID value, current name, and current group assignment. Use this file as your working template.

Edit the CSV

Make your changes in the CSV file:

  1. Update the Name column to assign or change an ID's display name.

  2. Update the Group column to assign an ID to a specific group or create a new one.

Leave a field blank to clear an existing name or group assignment.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Do not alter the ID column values. Changing an ID value will cause the row to be rejected on upload.

  • Group names are case-sensitive — a typo or difference in capitalization will create a new group rather than matching an existing one.

  • Leave a field blank to clear an existing name or group assignment.

Upload the CSV

  1. Click Bulk edit IDs at the top of the Mapping & Grouping page.

Interface showing options to download and bulk edit site IDs in a list.

  2. Select your edited CSV file from your computer.

  3. Click Add file to begin the upload.

The platform will validate your file on upload. If any errors are detected, a message will provide details to help you correct and re-upload your file.

CSV upload tips:

  • Download a fresh template each time to ensure you are working with the most current ID list.

  • The page will auto-refresh after a successful upload to reflect your changes.
