Cint identity
Cint collects a variety of data associated with each respondent, including identifiers which are used to build the Cint Identity Graph and Cint Global ID. Both are key components for identity resolution and matching an ad exposure to a respondent.
Cint Identity Graph: unified database that aggregates identity data collected by Cint and links identifiers using Cint Global ID, which is used for matching exposures to respondents for ad exposure processing and survey recruitment
Cint Global ID: a single, deduplicating identifier which represents an individual person and links together the identifiers in the Cint Identity Graph based on proprietary Cint methodology
Data collection
Identity data is collected in several ways:
Suppliers sending identifiers linked to survey respondents
3rd party vendors that sell their identity graph data to Cint
Directly from Cint panelists
Common identifiers
The following ID types are most commonly used to match a respondent to an ad exposure:
First-party and third-party cookies
Mobile advertising ID (MAID)
Hashed emails (HEM)
IP address (IP)
Unified ID 2.0 (UID2)
identifier | definition | collection method |
First-party cookie | Cookie dropped by the site that is directly visited by the user. | Every respondent who enters the Cint Exchange consents to the collection of Cint’s first-party cookie. |
Third-party cookie | Cookie that is used to track a user across multiple sites. | When a respondent is visiting a partner site and has allowed collection of cookies on their browser, a third-party cookie is captured and included in the tracker tag. |
Device ID (MAID) | A unique identifier associated with a device. | Collected directly from the tracker tag or partner integrations. |
Hashed email (HEM) | A unique, encrypted email address. | Collected directly from the tracker tag or partner integrations. |
IP address | Identifier assigned to a device or network connecting to the internet. | Collected by Lucid’s tracking tag on each impression event and from every person taking a survey in the Cint Exchange. |
UID2.0 | Privacy-centric, open source universal id, originated by The Trade Desk. |
Match process
The Cint Identity Graph is first used to match tracked ad exposures to any known respondents in Cint’s research platform, using any available identifiers in the Cint Identity Graph. Both matched and unmatched ad exposures are processed and saved in our database.
When an active respondent enters the survey marketplace, the respondent is matched to an eligible Measurement survey opportunity using the Cint Identity Graph. When matching to an active respondent, identifiers considered to be more deterministic are prioritized in this order:
Device ID
Third-party cookie
IP address
First-party cookie
