Control Quotas FAQ

A Control Quota is a sampling feature that allows you to select specific condition combinations from two or more different profiles (such as “White Males aged 18–24”) and apply a dedicated target cap to that explicit group.

Unlike standard Interlocking, which automatically blends entire profiles into a massive grid of every possible variation, Control Quotas give you surgical precision to isolate and limit high-incidence demographic segments so they don't dominate your dataset or exhaust your broader sample pool.

Setting up a Control Quota requires just a few simple steps within your profile setup:

1. Ensure you have added at least two different profiles to your Target Group.

2. Click the three-dot menu (ellipsis) next to the quotas toggle and select Create control quota.

   

3. Name your control quota and assign it a target value (either a percentage % or a nominal value depending on your Target Group settings).

4. Select a profile from the dropdown menu, choose the specific condition you want to target, and click Add Condition.

5. Repeat this step to pull in conditions from your other added profiles to build your specific cross-section.

6. Click Add quota to save and apply it.

Yes. You can configure a maximum of 5 control quotas per target group. Additionally, the total number of combined conditions across all profiles inside a single control quota cannot exceed 350.

The "Save as template" functionality does not currently support Control Quota or Interlock Quota configurations. If either feature is active within your Target Group, template saving will be locked.

Control quota limits are fixed and static. If you alter the overall survey total complete goal, your control quota values will not automatically adjust or recalculate. You will need to manually update them if changes are required.

Yes. When you duplicate a Target Group, all configured Control Quotas will be successfully copied over to the new group automatically.

A single profile cannot be used in both a control quota and an interlock quota at the same time. If a profile is missing from your dropdown menu, verify that it isn't already active in an interlock configuration. You must remove it from the interlock before it can be used in a control quota.

Control Quotas are designed to pull raw, individual conditions directly from your profiles to construct a new group. The system does not support nesting pre-grouped conditions into a Control Quota.
